Bless their hearts.
I dont care how it looks right now, unless it makes it cost less.

This was a FLH:

If the motor is sound and the numbers match and the bike runs down the road that's a decent price. I would offer $4,000 - $4,500 and go from there. Just my opinion.

Lots of new old stock Shovelhead parts on ebay and other places. If you got it I would piece it together with parts like that instead of China bullshit....
What if numbers dont match?

For one of the old rubberband cow glide shovels that's been bastardized he's about 2 grand too high, those were an odd duck stock.

Funky numbers start laughing and walk away.

FLT and FLH had the same frame, correct?

Well, like Twizted said you could walk away. If the frame vin and motor vin match you will have a better chance of selling it in the future, regardless of how you chop it. That means that motor and frame have been together for 42 yrs and that's all good. All original parts are for sell on the net. IF you plan on keeping it and making it look like the other pic you posted I wouldn't be afraid to pay $4,500 as long as the bike runs down the road good.

There's less and less of these Shovels for sale every day.

This is what I think as well. Matching numbers are good for when you sell. Unmatching numbers give you the chance to pay less for it and spend the money on custom parts.

Not even, that thing in the picture is a fat FXR, motor & 5 speed trans bolted together and rubber mounted in the frame. Last thing you want to try and do a custom with.

FLH or any FX series shovel is rigid mount in the frame with a 4 speed trans. These you can work with for customizing and most things will fit with little tweaking.
