Default Wheelie on Your Harley Davidson

I was scrolling through Cycle Trader and was surprised to see a Fat Boy for sale and the first picture was it doing a wheelie on a drag strip. I get it as the bike as a ton of money in performance and that’s what he’s justifying the high price on.

It made me wonder how many of you have done a real wheelie on your HD. I’ll start by saying that my last wheelies were on dirt bikes 10 years ago, and Honda street bikes in the 70’s.

Whose bike will get R done and post a picture if you have one with the front wheel up.

I find it interesting the seller thinks that will make it sell faster or at a premium value.

Sorta wonder what the majority thinks. That would be my last choice if I were in the market for a used Harley?

I have wheelied my Dyna Street bob.
It's actually pretty common now with younger crowd.
Sticky/deflated tires+Pull back on the bars+Pop the clutch = Wheelie
I've seen stock 883 up to full blown baggers wheelied stock. It's more of a technique thing.
Not my best pic, but I don't really have a photographer with me at all times.

I used to be more into it back in Chicago and younger because city riding wasn't exciting enough. Now I'm out in the wine country of California and any road is fun over here so I stopped caring for wheelies.

the last time i did a wheelie was the last time I'll do a wheelie

I was in Chillacothe, OH at an easy rider rodeo, i was 23, about 30 years ago

the grounds are just one big giant circle with camps just feet from the riding path....all day, and all night, folks hang out and ride around in circles

i had a clearing in front of me, no bikes (that I could see)...at the end of the stretch was a small knoll or hill....surely there's not a bottleneck of harleys on the other side of the hill...there were....I could see them a lot better at the top as my front end was off the ground when i came over the hill....and a kid on a '76 sportster paid the price for my bad decision

i was on a '74 bmw r90s, and took it home in the back of a pickup truck when I crashed and totaled it, the kid wasn't hurt, I made him whole on the spot, and some

not sure if my SG will lift up, but I'll leave that kinda fun the rest of the crowd here, I had my fill already

I’m assuming there could not have been any alcohol involved right!

Did you hit the horn or yell “4” as you came over the top?

My Evo bagger does it easily. DISCLAIMER: I've replaced two drive belts. It's a PITA.
Then you have to hold it until it sets down gently, so you don't blow out the front fork seals.
These days, just knowing it will is enough.

I see tons of local ads that say "super fast" and "really loud." So that's a hard pass for me if I was ever considering buying it. But apparently what everyone wants these days. I haven't wheelied anything in a long time. But when I was younger and had young boys (80s) I was always in trouble by the old lady for wheelies with a kid on the back. These days I see it as abuse. If you can afford it, it's on you.

no alcohol....but what else would cause a guy to do something stupid?

she was cute as hell and on the side of the path, and when she motioned for me to lift it up, I felt like I had to oblige....as soon as i got to the top of the hill, my first thought was "She's not going to be very impressed with this part."

One other thing...when that front end comes up on a bagger, you can't see where you're going because the fairing is in the way.
You need a little faith.
