Rain pants melting on my pipes!

Rain pants melting on my pipes!
I have a 2005 Soft tail classic. The rain gear I have has some "heat resistant" black vinyl looking stuff on the legs to protect against the heat from the pipes. What it REALLY does is melt onto the pipes and makes for a heck of a time cleaning them.
Any fix idea??
By the way - I really like the No Fried Thighs heat deflectors!

As far as gettin the burnt crust off of the pipes, Easy Off Oven Cleaner works great. I don't know what to say about stopping it from happening in the future.
These V&H Big Radius Pipes are really close to my legwhen I'm driving. I could easily see some rain gear melting on the pipes.
Good thing I don't own any rain gear.......yet! [:@]

I use a blousing band around the right leg about the level of the pipes. It has worked for me........

Some of the guys I know put a layer of regular 'duct tape' on the area that might come in contract with the pipes.
It's cheap, and works well.
Might not be good for those that want a clean 'designer look', but if you are out in the rain, wearing rain gear, with water and mud flying, who really cares if you have a piece or two of duct tape on your pant leg.

If the pipes are still getting hot, it must not be raining hard enough.

I had that happen before with some zip on ski pants. Cleaned off easily as I recall. I now have Harley rain gear and have not had the problem again. I think withany good motorcycle rain pants such as Harley's, that will not happen. I have the Overpass jacket and pants. Of course, duct tape will work too. Duct tape, baling wire and WD-40 will pretty much get you through life.
