You'll get a hundred recommendations on this. Personally I have 2 of the heavier duty Harbor Freight models semi permanently mounted in front of my 7x18. Many trips from the NY/Canada border to Daytona with no problems.
So that I can utilize the rest of the trailer for other things I have 2 Bike Pro removable chocks for that area. Steel mounting plate permanently attached to floor but the chocks themselves can be easily removed.

I personally like the Condor Pit Stop. It is rock solid and you can get off your motorcycle without it leaning. That is a wonderful thing if you are strapping it down by yourself.

Thanks 2goldens, the Bike Pro Removable chocks sound like what I am looking for. I don't/wont be trailering the bike too often but it is a pain in the butt having to try to find someone top follow me to an Indy if I have to leave the bike for whatever reason, then have to take me back to get it. Pain in the rear being the only driver in the family

The Condor Pit Stop chock - it looks as though it bolts to the trailer/floor at the front only - is that right or are the pics a bit deceptive?

Condor has a mounting plate that you bolt to the floor, and the chock slides onto that and bolts in place. I have used one for thousands of miles with no problem. They are the best chocks that I have ever seen, and the frame is aluminum so they are easier to move around.

Thanks twoglides,

I take it this is the mounting plate and chocks meaning the mounting plate isn't a separate purchase?

Okay ahh two things - my trailer is a 5' x 8' not a 5' x 7' -- so the bike'll fit on it (just) and secondly, as I have never put a bike on a trailer before, what is the best way to tie it down with the chock mentioned above (the Condor) ?

Last thing I want or need is for the bike to come loose or fall during transport, even though I'll only be taking it about an hour away.

Take a look at the Biker Bar (ditch the straps.com). They are $380 but worth it. I’ve used the Harbor Freight chock for ten years and never had any problems but the strapping down is always a process and concern with loosening during travel The biker bar eliminates the need for straps and is a one person process.
