Sub Shock PanShovel is a Rare Prototype Softail
#12
just what needed to be modified to squeeze a shovel into a softail frame ?
i had a 51 panhead in a 47 rigid frame that i finally put a straight from the factory 76 shovel /tranny into keeping the tins around the primary enclosing a belt drive.
having owned 3 night trains in the past, i think the softail frame is by far the best. looking in the for-sale ads for a softail right now...............

The original design of that frame came 2 guys in shop in St Louis Mo. in the late 70's, you'd see it advertised occasionally in chopper magazines back then. I was pretty jazzed about the idea but the thing was over $1300 when you buy a hardtail add on for $60 or a whole frame from Paughco for $250.
MoCo jumped on it before it became a fad and bought the patent rights. Rest is history.
