just what needed to be modified to squeeze a shovel into a softail frame ?

i had a 51 panhead in a 47 rigid frame that i finally put a straight from the factory 76 shovel /tranny into keeping the tins around the primary enclosing a belt drive.

having owned 3 night trains in the past, i think the softail frame is by far the best. looking in the for-sale ads for a softail right now...............

That is the MOCO's modus operandi. Let some individual do the R&D come up with an innovation that is desirable. And . Buy them out. Some guy came up with gears to put 5 speeds in a four speed case before HD came out with it. You get more knowledge here than any where else.
