I think HP wise If the 95 motor made 100 hp and an equallyworked88 would be within 3-5 HP of that.
Its the torque that you will miss out on.
I think with a good cam/exhaust and tuning you will be happy with porting and cams.

But if you are going to take the heads off and put in new cams anyway you might as well make it a 95incher. $150 to bore and hone cylinders and $2-400 for pistons depending on what you go with isn't that much more for a great boost in torque.
