I've heard that having a kidney stone is as close to childbirth a man will ever know.

Hope it passes on it's own.

Default Stoned

My friend spent the night in the hospital. Found a 7mm and 3mm stone. If they don't pass they will bust them tomorrow. I've been down the stone road and wouldn't wish the experience on my worst enemy! We just finished a 6k trip a month ago, and we're thankful this didn't happen 2k miles from home! Thanks for the well wishes!

It's easy to get dehydrated while riding this time of year, and that can contribute to kidney stones and other issues. Add an adult beverage or two and it gets worse because alcohol is a diruretic in that it will bond with water in your system which you then pass.

It's east to get dehydrated and not realize it. Always watch for the color of your urine at breaks. If it's dark or cloudy, you are likely already dehydrated. Water is a good option as are most sports drinks as they contain electrolites. But in general you want to stay away from sugary drinks.

I can't even imagine having that happen while on a ride. I have only had one instance of it, and I hope to Christ it never hits me again.

Default Big *** Review

Since hydration was brought up, I figured I'd leave a review. The Ciro Big *** drink holders are Awesome paired with the right mug!! This Reduce brand 40 oz mug got a workout on our 16 day 6k mile trip. The holders were flawless perch mount and passenger mount and the mugs kept ice water all day on 100° days. Yes hydration is key on a bike. I think of the body like a wet sponge in the wind and heat. Got to kept it soaked. The mugs what I've tried need to be an open handle to fit properly in the holder. Most closed handle mugs didn't seat fully in the basket.

Default Nice Ride

Went on a nice 100 mile ride today . Stopped for a pic at the famous Budweiser grain silo and then to Paris Arkansas to see the Eiffel tower .

I had two kidney stones hit me five miles down a 15 mile float trip absolutely unbearable. When I finally made it to the ER there was an elderly Nurse who told me the Kidney stones she had were worse than the three kids she had.

Well since we are sharing war stories, for the last two weeks I have been dealing with two herniated disc, been eating Naproxen like candy, its been slow recovery, however; felt a lot better today, and I probably should have kept my a$$ at home, but was jones'n bad to ride, and so I did, few pics from the ride.

I appreciate the pics and keeping this thread alive (and keeping me sane when Im stuck in the house).

A fun little ride out to the Continental Divide tunnel, then some puttering on back roads in the mountains.

Great spot! Check out Sand Springs Saloon in Frostburg for the ribs, one of our favorites 😋
