The point isn't the longevity of the name.

The point is the longevity if a name based on a now common feature.

Imagine if Dodge had named a car the "Roll up Window Special" in 1917, and still kept the name decades after every other manufacturer adopted the feature.

That's what I mean.

Omaha, I get it. I don’t think some people know how the Electra-Glide Got its name. It was the electric starter.
The Corvette and Mustang Are not novel ideas. They took out the name Electra-Glide for a few years. I have an Ultra-limited which can be called an Electra-Glide even though the Moco dropped it but now its name is back. Love my ride!

I would have thought it was commonly known that the model was named after the electric starter.

Apparently not.

I hope the Electraglide name never retires. I love it. I do think it's odd that a luxury automobile like Mercedes Benz puts a 35 year old innovation (4matic) on their vehicles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4Matic

I love having a Blue Electraglide.

^^^ The actual bike used in that movie is on display at Buddy Stubs HD in Phoenix. It's a beautiful bike. That said, I go full circle and just can't replace my Geezer Glide.

How can you not love that?

Great color combination. Especially with that seat.

That was my point, they were both discontinued and re-introduced.

Still loving my 2009 Electra Glide Classic, 88,000 miles and still many smiles to the gallon left in her.
