Actually it's a Panhead with an old dirtbike front end. (hijack apologies)

The short ground electrode keeps the electrode cooler because there is a shorter path for heat flow. The long thread help with thermal conductivity from the plug the the head. It is a very cool plug to avoid detonation from high temperatures.
