The old 4 speeds & sporty's hell ya , 5 speeds make funny noises after doing this a while , 6 speeds well that loud whack noise you just heard is the same sound you'll hear when hitting your head on the wall for doing something that stupid and costly .

I don’t shift without using the clutch on my Harley; but back in the ‘60s,
I used to do it all of the time. I had a couple of BSAs that I was constantly
drag racing, or just “going through the gears”. I’d use the clutch for take off,
keep the throttle wide open, and “blip” the kill button as I put pressure on the
shift lever. I don’t remember ever missing a shift or grinding a gear.

It's ok occasionally, for example when changing up whilst adjusting helmet strap, changing itunes playlist or waving to a mate - especially if you want to make reasonable progress. But not all the time - remember, massey furgusson's, and others simply will not change without first reducing hand-throttle, pushing that large clutch pedal all the way down.

100% of the time start bikes in neutral and never shift without clutch.Drive bucket trucks without clutch once moving up and down the gear train.

Sense it's a constant-mesh tranny you can shift it w/o clutching, but it won't last long. In competition sports cars once we're rolling we will "heel and toe" the car which is a method of matching revs and taking some of the strain off the driveline but we still use the clutch and it always goes through neutral. If it was possible to go through neutral all of the time on a bike I'd "heel and toe" it, but since it's always engaged I use the clutch. I just give the throttle a little "blip" before releasing it after a shift, especially on the downshift.
