From driving cages, if I have to park and theres an incline, first gear. If its flat, and if I can nail neutral without huntin for it, Ill put it there. I pull the clutch everytime I start a bike regardless.

Neutral if she's in the garage or on a flat surface... first if on a slope or a hill.. always with the clutch squeezed in.

RE: starting your HD
I've noticed that the cold HD clutch pak tends to drag somewhat when starting in gear...so I start my bike in nuetral 99% of the time. The starter doesn't need to be working any harder than it already does. If I were parked on a hill, I still start in nuetral and hold a brake on till I drop it into first.
