Neutral, with the clutch in. Just seems easier on the equipment. I've noticed a coldclutch drag when I've gotten in a hurry and start in gear.

I always start mine in neutral with the clutch in....how I was at the dealers the other day and the owner watched me start my scooter with the clutch in and he asked me why I did that I told him I don't want to trust the neutral light. He told me I am harming my bike by doing that, I should start it in neutral with the clutch out. Anybody ever hear of that?

neutral - almost always.
pull clutch always - the police bikes must have clutch pulled to start - won't start with clutch out and I like it that way.
