ORIGINAL: grunt

Mobil1 VTwin should be OK (it is on all my other rides), but Mobil1 (non-VTwin) is a no-no. The friction modifiers (for car motors) will cause hydraulic clutches to slip.
That may be true for the clutches but he wants to put it in his engine.
I plan on good old 15-50 Mobil1 when the time comes for the engine, H-D synthetic for the primary and 85-140 for the tranny.

Total crap...they would never stand a chance of backing that up. HD *wishes* it could afford to claim Mobile 1 as factory fill.

I swear dealers are instructed to tell people this B.S. lie!!! when my wife and I finally found the nightster she wanted we went and purchased it for her. While she was dealing with the paper work I went and talked to the guy at the parts counter because I noticed that they sold Amsoil and I asked him about it only for him and another guy to say that if I put it in my or my wifes newbike it would voidthe warranty, They only carry it because so many people ask for it! WTF

I asked them if they ever heard of the Magnuson Moss act......Never heard of it thay say, I told them it came out in the 70's and maybe they should read it before they keep spewing there B.S. all over the place!!!

We never bought any accesories, etc. for the bike there and never will!

Call HD customer service. Then, call Mobil and give them the name of the dealership. (That would be interesting)

I put Mobil 1 V-Twin in my bike at 1500 miles and at every 2500 miles since. I also run it in my primary. I'm now over 14000 miles. It runs cooler, quiter than before using Syn3. (I run Red Line in the tranny)

My dad used Mobil 1 V-twin in his 99 Heritage Classic for 45,000 miles without a single problem. When he sold it last year it was running like new. Now he's using it in his 07 Heritage Classic. And yes, it's in my new Dyna too.

That's not how vehicle manufacturers roll.

For Example. VW had problems w/oil sludge building up in the 1.8 turbos. So, when they discovered it,we rec'd a Warranty addendum and notice for my wife's Passat. It told us of the problem, told us in the ammended warranty to specificallynot use dyno, that we should only use a synthetic oil and provided a list of acceptable brands and viscosities, and extended our engine warrantly an additional 60K miles. If a vehicle manufacturer has a specific issue w/an aftermarket maintenance product, the dealer has to make it clear to the customer up front that they don't recommend a specific product. They just can arbitrarially say, you can't use that product.

Well i can say i saw a plane, unarguable change when i switched from dino to mobil 1 syn oil. My temp dropped 25 deg. (per oil dipstick) there was no other variable. The mechanical noise of the motor changed slightly as well, a bit more quiet.

im with these guys, he is just some big headed *** winging it, and thinks he can talk for harley davidson.

That`s exactly what I use in mine.[sm=thanx.gif]
At 1K I did and oil and trans change. Mobil 1 15-50 in the crankcase and Mobil 1 75-90 in the trans.
I`m getting ready to change the primary at 3K today. I have had no problems with my bike. The dealers want to scare you into using H-D oil and have them do all your service work...[8D]
They will lie, cheat and steal to get your service work.[sm=wakeup.gif]
Mobile 1 works great. Always has. As far as friction modifiers are concerned....We don`t need to worry about it in our engine oil..Our clutch is separate from the engine crankcase, therefore it`s not an issue.[&:]
