Just my opinion, but watch the Ed Sullivan footage from the 50s,its on Youtube. Plus just about any song that you may like that you can think of is also. he had alot of good video music clips from his movies.

Elvis was talented. I like to say he was Michael Jackson of the 50s. maybe even better with the movie catalog in terms of popularity. The songs still sound good today. Scotty Moore on guitar yeah...

thing is, Elvis is dated by todays standards, but if you watch in the context of the time he was on top one can appreciate it.

Little known fact: Elvis is one of the big reasons the USS Arizona memorial was built. They had trouble raising money until he did a fund raising concert in Hawaii. That iconic picture and bike makes it worth more than us mere mortals will ever be able to afford.

In 1961, a year after the Army, Elvis made his last live show to raise money for the memorial. He did the show and made $20,000 for the Arizona. By 1960 they couldn't come up with the $ to complete it, Elvis took care of that. He never set foot on stage live again until late 1968 because of his stupid manager. Parker his manager thought people would run to his movies to see him, it worked good for about 2 years. By 1963 his fans wanted to see him in person. Elvis blindly followed his manager that was taking 50% of his profits. Sad but I think the King had trouble growing into a real man. But even in his last years he preferred his Harleys. His last new bike was a 1975 Harley baggier. The guys that he paid to hang out with said he loved it.

My father and I are in the Confederate Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America in Memphis. We have some friends, sadly one passed away several years ago, that are brothers. They owned Super Cycle in Memphis. Elvis was one of their customers. He bought several bikes from them. They said he would come to town and hang out in the store with them. They would go to Graceland and play football all the time. Everybody that really knew Elvis said he was a genuinely nice guy.
