Crashed my Ultra Classic

RE: Crashed my Ultra Classic
Dry spell, light rain, truck stop, tar snakes, tires worn maybe 3/4 of usable tread = slippery road surface and needs a lot more caution. I am cautious to the point of paranoid on turns on roads that are wet. You may not have "done" anything wrong, but bottom line is you went down, so something wrong did happen. Hope you heal quick and the bikes gets fixed in not too long of a period.

I'm glad to hear you're o.k. In addition to what you described, were there tar snakes (black tar fillers for cracks) to also contend with? Those can make me paranoid, especially in hot weather or wet conditions.

Glad your for the most part ok. At first I didn't like reading these type post. But now I read every one. After the first couple I read, I found myself riding and thinking back to these post I've read, and it makes me more cautious. I you come across a guy on a Ultra going about 25mph in a 40 it may be me.
Seriously, bike can be fixed, but like you, I would really like to know if it was something I did wrong.

Next time I get new tires I am going to try Avon on my bagger. My wife has them on a Deluxe and I like the grip better, even going over a metal grate bridge or following a grove in the road is much better. I don't know if tires would have made a difference. I had the same thing happen to me a real long time ago (40 years) and have never forgotten going down, sugar sand on the road, and in every turn I pick a spot based on the surface.

glad to here your ok. the bike can be fixed. as to say what was the cause? that is something you are going to toy over for a long time. the best thing you can do is learn from this experiance. it could have been a small patch of diesel, maybe a little wet or both. anyhow this will make you a stronger rider and a lot more cautious rider. its not a fault of yours it doesnt make you a bad driver. it happens.
