I wanted to go to Sturgis this year, but Disney time with the family came first. Already planning for Sturgis next year. I live in NM and hit the state rallies. I would like to get to Las Vegas bike Fest. The wife and I work in the casino business, and in past years, go 5 or 6 times, each year. It is a free trip, except gambling (which is why we get to stay for free). I stopped drinking and gambling, but just love to look at bikes. heck, anything to do with bikes is fun for me. I am not a fan of crowds, but make due. I wouldn't say I feel guilty, but I am sad that I could not make Sturgis this year. There are four bands playing at the Chip, that I would love to see. Hopefully they will return next year.

not really, there are great points that these large rallys all share, but i dont like the mega-size crowds they attract.

The only reason to feel guilt is for having a bike and not riding it.

I feel less guilty now that I hear some of your responses. I think I will try to make a concentrated effort to attend some of the smaller rallies....sound like more fun without as much crowds and feeding money into the "corporate machine".

I've been to Sturgis once and once was enough. I hate giant crowds of people. [:@]

I would rather put gas in my tank and get down the road.

Dealing with drunks was only good for me when I was getting paid to do it.

Money spent on admission alone anymore can get me quite a ways down the road.

What I really fail to understand is all the wannabes that show up in a camper or motorhome without a bike. I think if a motorcycle only rally was to get started where folks were not riding around on golf carts, or atvs, unloading bikes from million dollar motorhomes, etc. I would go check it out. Til then I will just ride by on my way to somewhere else and chuckle at all them bad *** tough guys in their air conditioned motorhomes watching there big screen tvs.

Yeah, if 20k people are going that way, im going the other way. Actually crusing with some buds over mountain passes and taken solo trips down the lonely highway is my thing, not crowded drunk fests.........Needless to say I wont be at sturgis either If thats your thing, have a good time and be carful. Its just not mine...........[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
Hey we must be related. Tell you what...while all these guys are hitting the road and blazing their way to Sturgis...let's you and I hit those mountain passes and lonely highways together. I'm not in to crowded drunkfests either.

I have no desire to go to to that large of a rally. Don't understand the attraction.I tryto avoid large crowds.

I'm missing Sturgis for the first time in a while this year. I enjoy Sturgis, But I have more fun outside of Sturgis riding and the surounding black hill towns. I actually enjoy the smaller rallies better. I have more fun. you can ride in, camp, and be as laid back or crazy as you want to be without being price gouged. Since I cant make it to Sturgis this year, I'm planning on Hawgstock in Winterset Iowa.

We went to Laconia in June, and we went to Sturgis last August.Would have gone to Sturgis this week if not for going to Laconia.I don't feel guilty, cause we will go to Sturgis next year....After we make some more money....to spend at all the overinflated hotels...bars...restaurants...souvenier shops...vendor's booths....etc.
