Seeing as how this thread is still going, I wanna answer again.

Whatever bike is up next in my pile of raffle tickets.

It always amazes me when people are asked what they want from a Harley, and their answer is to describe something that is clearly NOT a Harley...

Now that it’s hot as blazes I want a nekkid bike for the back road cruises,
because I’m cooking on top of that M8 behind the faring right now.

Love my fxlrs, but I find for my riding style and kind of trips I take, it's not quite the best tool for the job. So considering to get a different bike next summer. Had a Kawasaki Z900RS which suited me fine, but wanted to try out a HD but while it's a fantastic ride, I have to admit it's not the best choice for me. Looking pretty hard at a BMW R1250R. I want a naked bike, which is also pretty comfortable and has power both in low and high revs. This BMW has 136hp, about 140nm of torque, pulls great from 2000rpm and keeps revving. But it's also pretty comfortable with electronic suspension, rider modes etc... Still unsure though, might regret not having the HD so need to drive it for one more season to be sure (it's in for first service now, so finally can open it up too).

Not sure about the BMW that you are considering, but if it has the boxer engine and shaft drive, be aware that a hard acceleration in a turn [don't remember if it's right, left or both] has a tendency to force the bike upright. It's subtle and certainly manageable, but something to be aware of.

I will testdrive it of course, if I would consider going that route. Just needs something that has enough power, is flickable enough, has enough power in lower revs (I ride a lot through villages and towns with very small roads, tight turns etc) and is comfy enough for a few hours riding in one day. The FXLRS is pretty good for all that mind, but I just find it lacks the power I want and it's not that flickable of course (good for a Harley, but uncomparable to those nakeds). Or maybe I just need to re-buy my Z900RS

That tendency went away years ago with the advent of the Paralever. I like the idea of an R1200/1250R for an all around motorcycle. It's relatively light with a great motor and suspension. Equipped with hard bags, removable windshield, and heated grips it makes a very capable light weight tourer.

I heard that MotoGuzzi has that reaction momentum effect.
