I purchased that new "visor" style trim ring over the weekend. Fits right over the existing trim ring on the headlight. Looks awesome!.....but when I ride it....its making a whistling sound....so I'm thinking I'm going to have to pull the thing back off and perhaps take some weather foam striping and line the inside edge to block the wind from get in there. I have the '05 RK Cust and the OEM trim right is kind of "rounded" so there a bit of a gap around the leading edge.

Anyway...got to be a way to correct this....cause I sure want the look.


Thoughts??

 

Caulk it with some PVC or form weather striping

 

Maybe you need louder pipes.

 

It's the new deer whistle deterrent I was talking about in another thread! : )

Maybe it's just whistling cause it doesn't know the words!

 

The headlight ring I installed on my Softail whistled at first, but either it has gone away, or I am just used to it, and do not notice it. I had to take off the stock ring though...

 

Update.....got it fixed. I went to Lowes and got a roll of 3/8" foam insulation and lined the inside of the trim ring and that fixed the whistling.

 

Great...I'm glad to hear that you found the fix. I had just purchased a headlight trim ring for my Deuce yesterday right before reading your post.

I installed mine last night. The new trim ring already had the foam installed on the inside when I removed it from the package. Hopefully it won't whistle!
