Pins and Needles?

RE: Pins and Needles?
Used to happen all the time on the rigid mounted monsters I've owned and ridden in the past. But not on the new EG, especially with the Kuryakyn Iso grips.

Yep. I've had that feeling too on long rides. What you can do is get a 'throttle rocker.' It's a piece of rubber that straps around your throttle grip towards the end. It has a flat place on it where you can use pressure from the heel of your hand to hold the throttle instead of having to hold it with your fingers.

iso grips helps loads, i alway use the throttle lock out on the road i tighten it just enough to hold the throttle and i make sure i can pull it back and forth. works well ive done 600 mile days on my sporty with no problems

Yeah, I've had that problem a few times on different bikes. Not so much on my Sportster, but I can use the friction screw and adjust my grip on that bike. On bikes in the past when that wasn't an option, I'd just have to shift my hand around, grip with the fingers for a bit and lift my palm off, do a thumb and first finger grip and wiggle the other fingers about. I believe it's the result of the floating mount of the throttle grip, it magnifies the vibration transmitted from the bars, and you can't move your right hand around as much as your left...

Welcome to beginnings of Carpel Tunnel.....I drive a lot for work about 35,000 miles a year and found my fingers tingling and going numb a few years back. As the years progress it just gets worse. Im usually ok when I ride . I set my thumb lock alot.... that way my hand can dagle and let the feeling go back in my hands. When it gets real bad surgary can help. Mine is scheduled this winter.

Harleybiker,
1st, Don't hold on so tight.
2nd, Try to keep your hand in line with your forarm, (wrist straight).
3rd, get a Throttlerocker!!!!!!!!!! Simple, cheap, and VERY effective!

RE: Pins and Needles?
It used to happen to me on long rides with the stock drag bars on my Night Train. Since I put the mini-apes on it hasn't happened, and I've ridden for much longer stretches than I did with the drag bars.
Cheers!

That sounds like either a circulation problem from holding on too tight or carpal tunnel syndrome (which is a nerve condition). I have had Carpal Tunnel S for years now. Mostly from working on a computer so much, I think.
When I ride, especially, when I am first starting out, maybe the first hour or so, it's the worst. I have to find the right angle to hold my hand until in stops throbbing. After a while, when I start to relax, it gets better.
