I have never purchased a Butler map but I am planning to start traveling out of state and was wandering if they are worth purchasing. If you have used Butler maps, what is your opinion?
Yes, well worth the investment. They color code the roads by best rides and have insets highlighting sections.
The best $15 you will spend on a motorcycle vacation.
I just purchased 6 maps from them last week. My motorcycles are stored right next to their office in Eagle, Co. and I was able to look at them before purchasing the maps.
They were on sale and got 6 for 10 dollars each. Not sure about right now.
Have one for the Ozarks and it shows the best roads and rates them. Nice addition to navigation and I'm old enough to trust a paper map more to get an overview of the area and plan rides.
Thanks for the info on Butler maps. Going to order a 6 pak to start.Been using Rand McNally forever, but they tend to wear down and tear because they are paper. Like the idea of water and tear resistant plus the concentration of the roads less travelled.
Another great book is Road Trip USA. Covers cross country adevnture on Americas 2-lane highways (north and south; east and west). While it is not specific to mortocycles , it offers some great points of interests along the way.

You might want to browse through this fairly recent thread.
I have several and can recommend them highly. If you're into computerized trip planning, all the Butler maps are available online at Rever.co, so if you subscribe to Rever's premium service, you can plan routes online and pick Butler-recommended roads easily.
