I'm planning a trip up through the eastern states. Want to take the BRP as much as possible. Looked into the Butler Maps I will have to spend about 100 bucks. I think I will just go. Wherever the road takes me is the way the road takes me. Afterall it's about the journey and the friends you're with. Not the destination. Besides that isn't that why they hang signs everywhere?

When you cross into Pennsylvania or New York, you can still pick up a free paper map at the state Welcome Centers. I snag new ones every couple of years.
I too, love using paper maps and "my nose" while riding. Most river side roads are fun.

Been there a few times. Would not take anything for that experience.
True that. Everything is becoming so computerized. If that is your bag go for it. I prefer to throw the dice. And. Let em land where they may.

over the years I had a few bought for me by friends & Family as gifts (B-day, stocking stuffers, etc.) while they're good - you can get similar as stated above at the Welcome centers in each state specifically for Motorcycles, actually you can go on line to each state & through their tourism center get the motorcycle maps sent to you - some even send a small catalog with overview of whats going on & when so you can plan your ride.
many of these are color coded or named as well - Also if you are an AMA member you can go to their site & get numerous roads to ride in every state that cater to Motorcycle touring. I just looked on Butler maps site & was amazed at the costs - Master collection maps for over $200, thats a little steep. IMO at $15 for a map Ill use maybe once then ill lose it, misplace it, etc. Id rather use the tourism services for each state or the maps provided by the AMA & for free, hell - a couple Butler maps would equal the cost of membership to the AMA & the resources there are numerous.

I'd be interested to see how the Butler paper maps compare with what Rever shows as Butler routes.
Here is a snip from my area. On Rever Yellow is a G1 Best Road, Red is a G2 Better Road and Orange is a G3 Good road.
I've ridden all of them east of I81 on this snip. Most of them I had ridden before I got my Rever subscription with the Butler Maps. Like I said, it was pretty easy to go on Google Maps and look for nice curvy lines, and then go ride them. Or they are roads that other local riders showed me. There are also quite a few that Butler doesn't have highlighted that are just as nice of a ride, if not better, as they ones they do have highlighted.
