Which carb?

RE: Which carb?
My thoughts for you would be pick whichever one you would like to see hanging off your ride. They are all great carbs. My choice for the last 35 yrs has been S&S carbs.Reason is they are simple, easy to work on,have a complete jet kit,and they flat out work once dailed in.

Thanks for the input, I currently have the Mikuni 45mm on it but I really hate the noise (so does my wife). My fear is losing performance after all i've gone through to get it.

What bike are you putting it on?
I've been running an S&S Super-E on my Evo-powered FXRS for many years and I'm happy with it. It doesn't quite have the throttle response as the Mikuni that I had before the S&S but it's a hell of a lot simpler to tune and mounts to the bikea lot more solidly. I could never get the Mikuni to stay in tune and it always buzzed the manifold bolts loose. The factory Keihin was crap, which is why I switched to the Mikuni in the first place.
I've also read a lot of good stuff about the Edelbrock carbs.

RE: Which carb?
I have a Wood carb and it has performed flawlessly. When the carbs are dialed in they are awesome. Riding in higher elevations it gets pukey like any other carb.
I will taking my bike to the dyno tuner when they get back from Sturgis to put on the Supertrapp tuned exhaust. It will be interesting to see ifany changes are required on the carb.

I personaly would not put the 45 on an engine under 100ci, but you dont need to go buy another carb.
The Mikuni is very tunable. and is usualy too rich right out of the box.
I had to call Head-Quaters and get there tunning kit for my carb, It had a slightly leaner emulsion tube and a squirter that was too small for my aplication. Im glad I had the parts to tune it and figure out what the bike really liked.

What kind of noise? I have a Mikuni 42 and it sounds no different than the OE CV carb did.
