Well I own 2 Bikes, A 16 cvo street glide and a 20 FLHTK. I ride both, no hater here, they're nice scooters, just speaking the truth. They may be around for quite some time, but shops aren't closing because business is good, just saying. Everyone has an opinion.

Heck of a lot easier to find a gas station than a Harley shop when you're riding those thousands of miles. Come back and let us know how it goes when you're off somewhere and that thing breaks. And...it will. Closing the dealers has absolutely nothing to do with, as you say.....reliability. There is nothing positive about it for the consumer. Whatsoever.

The only time I needed a dealership was in southeast Ohio (coal country,) about to get on W VA 250 to cross the mountains home to NC. The bike started missing, and I found Niedengards HD about 20 miles from where I was, outside of Wintersville, OH. I limped in to them and they put the bike on the old style Scanylizer (sp?) and determined that I could make it home with a bad throttle position sensor, (which they didn't have.)
So I changed plans and took Interstate 77 South (less throttle positioning,) and got it home OK. (400 miles.) Their diagnosis was a life saver because without it, no way would I have tried the run home on my own,
Sure glad I found them way out in the sticks as I was.
Niedengard's HD is closed now going on 2 years ago.

HD is buying back the franchises of some dealers, like the one that I mentioned earlier in this thread.

There isn’t an automobile manufacturer doing anything different. Why people can’t let go and speculate the same parroted nonsense is beyond me. Despite your misplaced parroted fake hate, Harley is fine. Go riding.
