So how many miles did you ride today ?
#2481
Only about 80 miles today. I was testing out my new helmet (love it) and found an empty parking lot at a local high school to practice some low speed maneuvering. I signed up for a Ride Like a Pro class at the end of April and plan to practice a bit on my own ahead of the class a bit each time I get to go out between now and then. Been riding on and off for 30 years, but I've never been really comfortable with tight low speed riding. I think it's time to try and fix that.
AWESOME BU, 1 of the BEST things ever u can do. GREAT!!!!!!!!!

1. You can do it slower. Be careful of course.
2. Tho it WAS GREAT, you are just a little outside of 2 spaces wide. Not by much. You can stay inside 2 spaces wide. And still not fully "lock".
REALLY LIKED hearing you scrape. WELL DONE!!

I'm more confident when making right turns, since throttle is close to me. I struggle making left turns as throttle side is far away from me. I really have to be on the tank if I want to make full lock turns, by the way I'm not there yet. I try to practice 2 to 3 times a week.
For some reason I'm hesitant to keep my throttle loaded. It just the way Harley motor sounds, I'm always afraid that it may blow up or something. LOL Also a reason I do not ride past 3k RPM.
But I need to figure out if I'm comfortable bliping a throttle like Jerry Palladino (Ride like a pro guy) recommends or keep the throttle loaded constantly.

1. It is VERY common for a rider to be more confident in 1 direction than another.
2. Being up on the tank is 100% fine. There are also some people my friend pyuchem, that when going left, will slide right on the saddle and vice versa. Which again is 100% fine.
3. I got the biggest kick outta you mentioning bliping. That was exactly what I was going to suggest. I nvr heard Jerry Palladino talk abt it. Tho I could certainly have forgotten. I think blipping is FUN and it is really COOL to be at low, slow, tight turns and be able to blip and it has NO input to how the bike reacts. I like the way it sounds. But, while learning, there is no need for it while your mind is going after muscle memory and technique. You can add it later if you so wish.
No matter what, most important I'd say is that you are doing it. Period. End of story. And THAT is FANTASTIC!!! Just do not get cocky. Know what I mean?
pyuchem, have you tried the figure 8 or snowman? Actually, did you try the snowman? In particular, a 5" wide "gate" to get in and out? Not that I am pushing it for you.
I am VERY proud and HAPPY for you. This will make you a better rider. Confidence wise. In parking lots!! Taking ANY turn(s).
Of course, you will be the envy of others as others see you and are in awe of how you handle the bike. Not that your ego needs ot should be stroked.
Go pyuchem GO! Seeing riders learn this stuff and become safer and HAVE MORE FUN on their bike really makes me happy!!!
Rode abt 25 miles.
