I rode 62 miles round trip to the Oncologist, nice curvy roads all the way there and back. Then 44 miles round trip to the AmVet post, 40 miles of curves and 4 miles of straight in town.

But I still love off-roading....

I spent many summer days as a kid on Owasco lake. And went to Cornell in Ithaca. Its beautiful up there. I haven't been to NY State in almost 4 years, but am going back this summer for my 40th High School reunion.

Zero.
But on the bright side, it WAS 36 degrees and rainy today.
So we’ve got that going for us.
Which is nice.

I was able to get 58 miles in. Was planning a longer ride but my mind was just not in the ride, it didn't feel right.

Interesting to read this from such a mile monster like you Dave (I have been on the forum quite a bit and witnessed the amount of riding you do). No disrespect meant at all. There have been a few times where I am excited to go for a ride (I have a 3 year old so most longer rides are semi planned) but after 30-45 minutes it just doesn't feel right and I call it a day. I thought this was just me.

Not just you. I've only been riding a little over a year and I've had this happen as well. Plan on a Sunday afternoon out for hours and end up coming back home in a half hour. No particular reason, just a felling of "meh"

Lost a very good Friend, a high mileage rider. His 08 had over 255,000 miles when a woman pulled out in front of him Sunday afternoon. He T-boned the Kia at about 55 mph. Life flighted to trauma center, Monday neurologists said he had sever brain damage and would never be the same. He never regained consciousness. His daughter pulled the plug Tuesday morning. Wednesday morning she told him She would be okay. That he could go in if that is what he needed to do, she would survive. He passed with in the hour of that. I was going out for a ride to clear my head after I found out he passed Wednesday. My head just wasn't in the ride, I made to stupid mistakes and turned around and went home.

Local dealership had a remembrance for him last night. He was the HOG chapter director. Huge turn out. 112 mile round trip ride for me.

Very sorry for your loss of a good friend. Losing a friend for any reason is difficult. But at least he was doing what he loved.

Good call on recognizing when it's time to go home.

Paul
