The walkaround video from the Spanish dealer shows that it's definitely a chain.

Which, if it can fit BMW's new "miracle" chain (or if it offers similar maintenance-free capability), might not be nearly as much a drawback as I previously thought.

Finally the one thing thatd bring me back to a dealer other than parts!

Bike is cool, but most definitely not a 1st year purchase (if at all w/pricing) and seriously doubt my Tenere is going anywhere.... That said Id love to stop by and take a look at one. Also be interesting to see how the vibes are in the dealer looking at something other than the usual stock. Whether youre looked at like a stepchild like back when youd stop by to look at a Buell or Vrod....

AFAIK, BMW invented that type of spoked wheel and has been using them since 1995. They are stronger than cast wheels because they can flex when they hit a pot hole or a rock. They also permit the use of tubeless tires.

I still think this when I look at the new engine but a great looking bike just the same.

I like the look of it, but I'm nearly sure of 2 things....it'll be waaaay overpriced in Canada and MY GOSH it looks heavy.

If I bought it, (with the short inseam I have) I am sure gravitational forces of unequaled dimensions would yank it to the ground in 2.8mS the first time I ran over a pebble or tree root from a sapling.

;-)

I hope they sell

Yea...I don't think so. Not my style of bike. All function & no form. Too ricey looking & too high.
I like a bike that when I ain't riding it, I'm staring at it & detailing it. Wouldn't happen with this, although I would love to ride the Haul road to Prudhoe Bay on it.
I'm still considering the BMW R18.

Pretty much every picture you see of the Pan Am, is from the right side, HD always seem to be reluctant to have publicity shots taken from the left side of the bike.

Possibly because the motor looks a bit of a buggers muddle from the left. Still, I hope it sells well.
