At the moment, I'm feeling no need to spend 5k to 10k on my bike. Happy for those that do, especially those that do it themselves. But, I do notice a lot of the M8 "I've a problem " posts, are from people who have modified their bikes.
They really aren't for a different type of riding. Long trips, loaded down, I enjoy the added torque when I have to get around a couple of trucks. I can't speak to the HD kits and cams, but my Fuel Moto set up is very smooth, tractable power.
Opinions are just that, many here don't really know.
Big power imports are very different, for that different type of riding you mention, and I have had most of those, too.

As for those problems you mention, I have 10K miles on my 128, and have so far been through 18 states without a single issue. I truly love my set up.

I am so thankful that I got all the stage work done on mu 07 back in 08, so now all I need to do is ride, and enjoy it.

Yep, two 3,000+ mile road trips to the Tail of the Dragon, once with a pillion.

The NON CURRENT (that means not this year's model) Versys 1000LT I looked at had a $9,995.00 price tag.
My 2020 BMW R9T Pure was a $9,999.00 bike before I added a couple of options. The Pure is the Base model of the RnineT series.
My point IS that there are 100 HP bikes selling for a lot less than Harleys.

I understand. However, it is nothing new that Harley's are more expensive than more powerful bikes. I don't understand why people are surprised by this.
The same thing can be said for cars. Why would someone buy a 718 Boxster when they could by a Mustang GT for a lot cheaper?

I just like to putt around. Don't want a giant B17 bomber motor. Bring back the 74 cid big twin.

Could I purchase a different brand of bike that would have the same 135hp and 135ftq for less than I invested in my Harley?

Sure, but what fun is that?

Gratuitous bike pic with a happy and content rider attached.

I sure hope they don't need to sell "Stages" for the Revolution Max engines.
If some (most of them!) brand does not offer Stage kits, that does not means their bikes are top-notch out of the box. Usually absence of Stage kits means just absence of Stage kits Also, performance and reliability used to be on opposite scales
