How do I get the dealers to "Compete" on the price of a bike?

Nobody, least of all dealers, like to play these infantile games. It's really quite simple:
Before approaching a dealer, determine the exact amount of the check you would write to buy the bike. Be aggressive but reasonable. The first dealer that will sell the bike to you for that check is the one you buy the bike from.
Any dealer will beat the last guys price by a couple hundred bucks, but all the back and forthing really puts a bad taste in their mouths, rightfully so.
I did this and found a dealer that would meet my price. First dealer was about $3K off. 2nd dealer agreed. It's that simple, and everyone gets to live their life.
