I got the strangest look from the dudeat the local hardware store when I asked for the location of their Torx bits. But, here's my pick.....Can the stock brake pads be any crappier? They squeak by the tenth mile and explode brake dust all over the bike. The squeak free and dust free Lyndall pads I replaced them with were very inexpensive so it shouldn't be a cost issue. I don't understand HD's use of such cheap pads.

- Purchased the bike with a security system - have to pay extra for an audible siren??
- Passenger foot peg locations w/stock exhasts (who has stock exhaust?) will burn up a passengers ankles
- Cheap bolt and nut heads, look crappy after 1st year (garage kept bike), covered most of mine with hot toppers
- Cam Chain drive vs. direct - heard it was to reduce noise
- Oil filter, there has to be a better way...
- Changing a clutch cable, take off the exhaust pipes???
- Seat Sux - look under the passenger seat, indent doesn't any room for padding (replaced mine)
- Primary chain tensioner, HD fixed that (I fixed mine before they fixed theirs)

my guess would be the dumb socket that nobody has that it takes to remove the brake pads I mech. for 20 years and never even heard of that socket. also why put the rear axel in so you have to take off the exhaust to get it out. oh by the way you can reverse it no big deal..
[/align]When I worked at Autozone, a guy came in one night needing a tool we did not have. I don't remember what it was, but he missed a whole weekend of riding because of it. He was ranting in the store about HD, and how screwed up it was for them to use a fastener which required a tool he did not have. I was not a harley owner at the time, so I could not fully appreciate dilema, until now. As a metric only rider at that time, I had never needed anything other than a basic set of hand tools to work on my bikes. Thank goodness my 07 Dyna has been nothing more than routine maintenance so far.

How about stupid things Harley people do, I actually paid to go to MMI to learn to work on Harley's so I could deal with these problems everyday.

Okay boys! there really is no reason to complain.Every vehicle on this planet has those kinds of problems.Nothing is designed today with all parties in mind.I could litterally bore you to death with some of the mechanical oversights I have seen over the years. The way I see it! A Harley Davidson motorcycle with its few minor headaches is well worth the aggrevation.
