Buyers remorse

Buyers remorse
Maybe I'm just crazy but I've been experiencing serious buyers remorse about my new Road King. I traded my 16 Road King in on the 20 that I have now.
There are a lot of things I like about the new bike. Like how much smoother it is, especially at highway speeds. And also how much smoother it is at idle. It's a beautiful bike that I've been steadily doing things to make it mine.
But I miss the vibrations. The rattles. And the twin cam just sounded so much better than the M8.
Yeah the 103 wasn't as refined as the 107 on my current bike, but damn it was good.
I've actually been looking at trading a brand new bike that I've had for less than 2 months on an older Road King with the twin cam like I had before.
Someone talk some sense into me! LOL

If I could have bought a brand new Evo Heritage Softail to replace mine I would have, but I couldn’t, so I didn’t.
Instead it took me over a year and 11,000 miles to get used to the ‘19 Heritage I bought. Good thing, too, because now it’s a “high mileage” bike and practically worthless in a world of low mileage “garage queens.” Like it or not, I’m stuck with it now.

I agree with this.
I remember buying my first Twin Cam and really thinking that compared to the Evolution it was sick (in a bad way) sounding, even with aftermarket exhaust.
This M8 hit me the same way compared to the Twin Cam but since I changed to an exhaust I can live with and just recently changed the cam it is growing on me. Even my riding buddy says it sounds like a 66 GTO with headers when I get on it.
None of these recent bikes sound or feel like the Shovel Head I started with but it's fast, handles well, looks good and is fun.

I think more refined becomes less character. The sound is an important part of that character.
The common theme in these threads is
" I wish my evo would sound more like the shovel I had"
" I wish my twin cam would sound more like the evo I had"
" I wish my M8 would sound like the twin cam I had"
Harley could make a liquid cooled, 8 valve V twin that sounds like a bad *** Harley of old and meets emmisions. That would be a sales hit.
The proof is in the auto world
5.0 mustang with 455 hp sounds good
6.4 challenger with 485 hp sounds good
