Default 1990 flhtp?

My husband is going to buy a 1990 FLHTP this wednesday. It has 31,000 miles on it. Cream colored. Something he's always wanted so I'm happy for him, but after reading and reading these forums I'm kinda scared. Can anyone tell me if there's something to be leary of? It's in beautiful shape..has been taken care of.. he's gonna pay 7500.00 for it. Is this a good deal or is this price to steep. It has a single seat no passenger so we will have to buy a two up seat so I can ride along. Still.. I'm a little concerned... any help or information is so appreciated. Thanks, DB

Yes, all rice burners.. Ninja, and Kawi.. this is his first.. he's so excited. I don't want him to get ripped.. Just worried about the price, can't find much information on this particular bike. Tried blue book etc. seems ok I guess, but still one never knows. Truly is a beauty. Is there anything we should know about this particular year, problems.. besides getting the seat for two? Thanks in advance . DB

The EVO's are good motors. The only thing that you may find a problem is that the accessories for EVO's are generally not kept in stock anymore at most dealerships so you would have to order accessories for it. As far as plugs, filters, gaskets, etc., those are kept in stock. Enjoy the scoot.

I have a 1997 Fatboy (which has the same engine as the 1990, the EVOlution). I ride it every day, it's my transportation. I am not easy on it, and she does just fine. Since your husband is already a rider and not buying it to learn on, I would just see if the seller will let him take it for a short ride. If he won't, oh well..but if he does, that's a good thing. If everything seems to check out good after the ride, I say go for it..sounds like a good deal to me.

I bought my '88 for $5k. I spent another $3k getting it where I wanted it. I'd say $7500 for a '90 in nice shape is not too out of line.
