If I had to guess I'd say 1/4X20.

Thanks guys, being in the UK we are all metric but imperial threads are available. The internet suppliers are easier here for this kind of stuff, cheers

any auto parts store has a place to check threads. looks like license plate bolts

Nahhhh,
Auto parts stores and (at least over here) the hardware stores have the ability to check threads, as long as they're fairly common. You can actually buy a tool that measures threads and takes the guesswork out. Google should bring up lots of different options, not too expensive if you plan to get grease up to your elbows. Enjoy your bike!!

I have a set of those on my license plate, they're 1/4 20 thread.
