Any Leather Crafstmen in HERE?
I've had this idea ,...don't know if it's doable or not.
I was actually thinking of having my seat, side bags, tour pak, and backrest all re-covered with
a Tan leather. I like the look of the light tan leather better than the black,...and my riding leathers are light tan too. Just wondering if the tour pak,...and semi-hard side bags could actually be done?

Any thoughts,.....drawbacks,....downfalls?

I own a leather manufacturing business and I have done this. I'd have to see them first. Currently we are working on a set of bags for the Softail Deluxe that will blow your socks off! We will use this method for covering them. They look like all leather but will be solid inside.

I'm able to help if needed, have been tanning and crafting leathers since the mid 70's.
Leather and bone, glass when requested with either real or artificial cordage.

Hogdeluxe,
I would love to see some pics of the bags your doing right now. I second the idea of brown and lighter color leather on the bags. Such as the RKC bags and tour pack redone in a brown or tan color leather. So if you have pics, website, catalog I would love to see it.

Many years ago I was into carving leather. Took several classes at the local community college. Still have a few of my tools in the closet. Was buying leather sides and making belts, pocketbooks, etc. and selling them to the artsy folks of the 70's back then. Most people didn't know the difference between a stamped mushroomor a carved image. If someone with the time and talent wanted to, a one of a kindwork of art is possible.

Longsnowsm, Morepowr,
I can't show the bags until I have approval from my lawyer. We're looking at possible patents on the design and quick release mechanism. Secondly I don't work on Jackets. Thanks for the offer but I’ve learned to stick to things I'm good at Chaps, Holsters andSaddlebags. If you have ever watched TV or Western movies you've seen our products. I do this for a living it's not ahobby.
We're getting ready to release a whole line of motorcycle products to compliment our cowboy stuff. www.mshelhart.com The first product we're releasingis a fake pillion that replaces the one on the back of a Softail Deluxe and turns it into a storage box.Looks just like a pillion but it's a bag. Then we’ll do the saddlebags. We have to test the bags first. I’ll post a picture when I get the saddlebag prototypes finished and mounted on my Deluxe. So hang tight it will be worth the wait. I’m pretty **** about my bike and what I put on it. No ugly gaps between the bags and bike and easy to take off and on.

HogDeluxe, wisemx,
I am in need of a main zipper and two side zippers replaced on my HD jacket, is this something you could repair?

Don't you have a leather repair shop close by?
If so these types of repairs are typically less than $20.
