Key and Fob question

Key and Fob question
Hey all. Hopefully someone can help me out after I’ve done some searched on the forum and can’t really find a direct answer. So I purchased my first Harley (2016 Street Glide) about 2 weeks ago. I drove to a dealership about 4 hrs away. After finishing all the paperwork and loading it up on my trailer, I ask for the keys, which they said were in the saddlebags, were not there. They had no keys or the fob. I could still start the bike on and off without issues. So my salesman tells me he will order me a new set of keys and will be at my house within a week. I didn’t want to take another 4 hr trip back to get the bike and since I have a garage, I took the bike with me. I called for an update and the dealer said he is only getting me the actual key and not the fob... So the key will let me lock the handlebars but the bike can still be started... correct? And do I and should I purchase the fob and the system separately? Sorry for the noob question as I’ve never had a harley before so this ignition and alarm system is brand new to me. Any advice is helpful and thanks in advance.

I'm confused by these two statements:
In the first statement, it sounds like you've already started the bike, but in the second statement, it sounds like you haven't started the bike.
If you can start the bike, I'm guessing there is a fob somewhere on the bike. The key will let you lock the handlebars and the saddlebags.

I have started the bike and been riding it as well. There is no fob I’m sure. I checked everyone on the bike. Saddle bags, under the seat, glove box. Obviously security issue as I can only safely leave my bike in the garage and no where else. I have no pin code either. This why I’m so confused as the dealer said he is ordering me a key but that’s only going to allow me to lock the handle bars and no other security. What do you guys recommend?

if there truly is no fob, then your bike does not have security. if that is the case, you have 3 options. purchase the security and have it programmed, lock your handlebars every time you get off the bike, or do like people have done for years and just trust that no one is going to steal it. obviously option 1 or 2 is better than 3.
i would have security installed if it were me. but there'll be enough folks coming along here to tell you how lucky you are that you don't have that 'pita key fob to deal with'. though admittedly, in 12 years i have had zero problems with the security.
