Default 5K Service & Dyno Tune for $260

Just wondering if this is a good price for a 5K service plus a Dyno tuneup. I was ready for my 5K regualr service and thought the HD dealer price was a bit high. They wanted $330 plus if I wanted a Dyno tune, they wanted another $250. My friend turned me onto this indie bike shop that worked exclusively on American bikes. They did the whole job for $260 (tax included). Now I have nothing but good things to say about my HD dealer. But they just got their first Dynometer a few months ago and we all know it's the skill of the tuner that's most important. The indie guy has been around for years and does lots of dyno tunes, plus he has a great reputation. So the difference in cost was approx $260 Vs $580. By the way, my bike was running great before the tune. Now it's running even better. According to the graph he provided, max HP went up from 66.5 to 69.4 and torque went up from 81.5 to 84.4. And the curve got smoother thru the rpm range. He also richened it up a little at idle to cool it off a bit. Anyone know if these are good numbers for a 2007 Deluxe?

If the work was good, then you got a great deal. We have a local indie in NC that does DYNO tuning, and he's good at it, but charges $325 for a custom tune. Add that on top of what the dealership charges for the standard service and the numbers you quoted above aren't far off. Wish I knew of someone who was competant enought o do my service and DYNO tune for what you paid.

I thought the price was good. Rode for about 2 hours this morn and the bike feels a lot stronger than before the tune. If you ever get to central Florida I'd be glad to give you the name/number for this guy.

I had my 07 RK Cutom dyno tuned about a month ago. Brought the HP up from 60 -74. It has a lot more pick up after it was all done. Also seems to run a lot smoother than before. Also changed the air filter at the same time. All said & done $1,100. later [maybe i got screwed & didn't feel a thing] other than my pocket book. Heading off on a 9,000Km journey tomorrow morning. Toronto -Newfoundland.
Iknow, pictures along the way. LOL
