The old style laced wheels have a shoulder where the bead of the tire sits. The 'Profile Laced Aluminum Wheels' do not.....they are smooth. IMHO they are easier to clean and I prefer the looks of them.

 

Thanks again for all of the great answers and pictures. I knew I could count on yall. I think this is the way I am going to go on my 08 Road King Classic. Another plus to me that my dealer told me today is that with the smooth laced wheels you have the option of running 'tubeless tires'.

 

How can you run tubeless tires?? They are still the same spokes as on the standard spoked wheel.

 

Those are really nice. I had never noticed them anywhere before this post. I bet they're easier to polish than the regular ones!

 

THE ONLY OPTION GOT ON MY 07 GLIDE WAS THE LACED WHEELS. IVE NEVER HAD A PROB WITH SPOKED WHEELS AND COULD GO EITHER WAY BUT IT WAS BUY THIS BIKE OR WAIT[:@]AS MENTIONED ABOVE MAY BE EASIER TO CLEAN BUT USE A SPRAY WAX ON THEM TO HELP.

 

I have them also...great wheels...look wider than they are, easy to clean.

 

I don't know. Someone smarter than me in the world of wheels would have to confirm or deny this.

 

The bike comes with tubeless tires just like all of HD's likeup, but it will have tubes in it. The laced wheels cannot be ran without tubes. That is why I am getting rid of mine and replacing them with Street Glide wheels.

Anyone that wants a set of these, mine will be available in about a week at a price much lower than factory.

Got them on my FLSTCI and like the fact that water has no place to hide & they are easy to wipe down too.

 

The profile laced ones have chrome spokes, and the standard wheels have zinc plated spokes
