Hey Barney, yes that adapter you show in your picture is almost exactly the thing, right down to the orange color. The only difference is mine had a smooth finish while yours shows a sort of pebbled texture. (I bought more than one so still have a couple of them. I honestly can't remember when I bought them, definitely before 2014 or so. No idea where I bought them either.
I had a house fire when I was about 22, and it was hands-down the scariest thing I've ever experienced. I'm so glad this wasn't worse, and I hope some of the settlement money shakes down to the Norton — the Commando is one of my all time favorite bikes. Glad nobody was hurt.
We had a house fire last Thursday. Got all three Harleys out of the garage before the whole house was involved. I took in a good deal of nasty smoke and my lungs fill like I've smoked 50 packs of cigarettes but nobody died and all of the animals are safe. Roof. The scenic view from the kitchen ceiling. The cause was an electrical fire.
Wow Tommy! I would have been sympathetic before but now I have a whole different understanding of the impact of this. I'm glad nobody was hurt. I hope your insurance is going to look after you. The first thing I did was go to an office supply store and bought an organizer/pouch sort of thing to hold receipts. It has several pockets and I'm using it to keep everything I need to work with insurance and get reimbursed for 'alternate living expenses' and for replacement of lost possessions. The next thing I did was go to the house and take pictures of EVERYTHING, especially partly ruined things that you could still identify. Even a picture of a destroyed shelf with puddles of burnt crap helped job our memories of what we owned so we could add it to our claim. The insurance company has been good and fair, but they won't pay without documents.
This many days into it you've probably already had some discussions with them and know what you're up against. From the pictures looks like your case will be a total loss. That's probably going to be simpler than what we're going through. We are in week 9, looking at 4 more weeks or so before we can move back in and get on with our lives.

On January 12th we were woken at 0630 by all of our smoke detectors going off. We couldn't see anything wrong in the house. I opened the door to the garage and couldn't see any smoke or flames but I felt a serious waft of heat.

Very sorry about your loss. My renter fire I recently posted about had started in a cheapo power strip from one of those dollar stores.
I hope your insurance steps up, mine didn't. "Good hands" lost all my business
