Thank god for my windshield, jacket,and face shield or it would have been worse.

I was going up the ramp for the freeway coming up to the speed of traffic when an 18 wheeler decided instead of me merging with traffic he was going to merge with me and pull off to the side of the road. I hit the brakes and as the tail of the truck passed withing 3 feet of my front wheel I got a face full of small rocks because they are doing constuction in that area.[:@]

No damage to me or the bike but it sure didn't feel good.

 

Close call, glad you're allright.

A scary time for me was last summer, exiting the freeway to a green light where I was turning left, some truck had dumped a large amount of gravel. I'm trying to slowdown for the turn but I am already into the gravel. Made it but it scared the **** out of me.

 

I got popped in the chest by a rock just last night.....Someone threw it from an overpass.[:@]

 

That really sucks because that was no accident.[:@]

 

Yep..I know the feeling. I was going up a mountain the other day, this woman in her cage was coming towards me in the other lane..she drops off the side of the road, and it chucks a rock into my shin. It seemed to have gotten flung pretty good and I was doing ~50 mph in the opposite direction. It didn't feel good.

 

Hi Beverly......windsheild full of bee's last week....a whole swarm peppered my wind sheild on I-210 near Fish Canyon....not one sting, but I did feel thier moisture on my face and arms............

 

had a quarter sized stone hit my finger once from an 18-wheeler, hurt like a sonofabitch [:@]

xxxflhrci , Did you call the cops on the rock thrower? Thats serious stuff. A few years back some teens were chucking rocks at passing cars in Deale Maryland. One went through a guys pick up truck windshield and hit him in the head, killing him. He was a husband and father of some youngsters. Stupid.

 

I am glad to read that you got your close call, for the year, out of the way, with no injuries or bike damage. Now you should have clear sailing for the rest of the year. You can always use that incident to talk yourself into getting a bagger, with full fairing, for better debris protection.

What's funny is that it didn't seem that close at the time...I guess it was though. I just thought how much the little rocks hurt
Luckily the pickup that was behind the truck held back so I could move over once I could get out from behind the truck.
