Harley Sales
I was reading the news and I saw Harleys Earnings were released. The Harley CEO said he was disapointed with dealer sales so far this year. (US sales are down)
My local dealer trys to sell bikes at $2500 over MSRP and their showroom is packed with bikes they cant sell. When are all the dealers going to wake up and sell bikes at a fair price and make the buying experience much better.

as long as the got somebody buying them for what they want . they are not going to change. i knew a dealer everybody said he was hard to deal with but by august of every year he was buying bikes from other dealers to keep up with his sales . and trust me he retired very nicely and he did for alot of years .when ever i dealt with the man i cant complain. he always did me right.and i was always happy with the price i paid.and thought it was fair. but i also knew him 20 out of the 27 years he sold them.

Look at at the dealers that won't put an 08 on the floor until they get rid of more 07's. 6 gal tank/ABS/ is a big enough difference for some. But I think some dealers received their shipment earlier than last year and are still getting some 07's.
I come in and would want to see the 08 I don't want to hear wait a couple of weeks till we sell more 07's

When I bought my new EGC in March the local dealer's floor was full of new 2007 Dynas. The sales guy told me the baggers were selling like hotcakes but they were NEVER going to move the Dynas before the 2008 models hit the floor. A guy might be able to pick up a great deal on an '07 this coming winter.

They got way to many pssed off customers out there on the 6 speeds this year. My guess is sales will continue to go down until quality and factory service goes up. Baby boomers are their stronghold, too many good choices out there for the younger generation to put up with HD and stealership bullsht .

Good comparison, We don't need a bass boat, we want one. So who's got the money to buy a new one. Mabe not enough to support all the manufactures. There clearly is a large market for Harleys. Right now the market has grown , how much more will it grow? Thats the guestion.
