Lol!

My dad had a GT-6. Yellow, with a black interior. In Fresno, California, where it's 100+ all summer long. And no air conditioning. And he tried to drive it to work every day. The car didn't last too long, unfortunately. But, it was a looker!

Those were neat looking, kind of a poor man's XKE. At least their hardtop roofs didn't leak...

Little story about the Spitfires - their steering rack and pinion was fastened to the front frame crossmember with two U-bolts; mine came loose going over a railroad track once and suddenly I was spinning the wheel back and forth with little effect as the rack just slid back and forth through the u-bolts, but got the car stopped safely as it wandered onto the shoulder. Was easy to see what happened, and I carried a little roll up tool bag, so centered the steering wheel and tightened down the U-bolts and it didn't affect the alignment. Was lucky I was going slow in town. Those were really basic cars, not really anything fancy or exotic in their engineering.

MGAs were the same...simple as a hammer. Guys doing "spare no expense" restorations would commit the sin of making the car better than when it rolled off the assembly line.
