HDF Is Happy To Present Our Newest Member Of The Month

For The Month Of August

Please Have Help Us Welcome

TwiZted Biker

Everyone knows TwiZted. Well, unless you are new to HDF or have been living under a rock.

TwiZted Biker aka TwiZted aka TB aka Dan joined HD Forums in March of 2009 and has become one of the more prominent and well-respected members dolling out good helpful information post after post. Ok, and maybe a good ZINGER here and there.

Dan started riding 50 years ago at the age of 16 knowing absolutely nothing about bikes other than his desire to own and ride one.

Before you ask Dan how many bikes he has owned over the last half century; save your breath. Back in the 80’s, he was buying and selling bikes (or as Dan likes to put it, “…hustling swap meets…”) at such a feverish pace that in no time he racked up 20 sales and lost count shortly thereafter.

Now comes the impossible question………which bike is his favorite? With such a high turnover of bikes, he replied “They were all my favorites….”. Now if that is not a diehard biker, then I don’t know what is.

Though heavily into Harley Davidson’s now, he did have a thing for BSA’s for a many years.

When someone has such a high volume of bike ownership in a half century, that likely puts you in a rare category in and of itself. You just have to ask what bikes did he keep for his own private use. To which Dan said, his longtime steady bike is a very heavily modified ’72 shovelhead 93” stroker, followed by his ’17 stock Road King.

Lately, due to practicality and comfort, TwiZted has been logging more saddle time on his Road King.

Don’t get him wrong. Dan’s shovel served him very well for almost 40 years, so there is no complaint there. There are just times you need to lean a bit more to practicality and comfort.

When you have a riding career of half a century, you just have to wonder what his most epic ride. Upon asking Dan, he replied……when he and his youngest brother sent two 1986 Harley Davidsons over to Germany in 1988. Then he and his brother flew over to Germany and road without a care in the world for six weeks.

Six weeks of peaceful bliss. Just where in Germany did they ride? It did not matter. There were no plans, no agenda, no appointments, no reservations, no nuth’n. They “…just followed our noses for the next 6 weeks….”. Whatever direction their noses pointed or any whims they had was their compass.

The entire trip was off the charts phenomenal with memories beyond belief. They met interesting people, and had “…some serious fun bordering the surreal….”.

If the above was not enough of a Trip Of A Lifetime, get this…when Dan, his brother, and their bikes came back from Germany, Dan sold the bikes and they made all of their money back. Yep, I guess Dan is the hustler of swap meets. (Note to self. Do not play poker with Dan.)

Dan presently works for Tesla at their Fremont, CA. plant. When you see or hear “Tesla”, remember Dan because he designed an item that helps make the Tesla car.

TwiZted divorced back in 1988 which spurred the reason for his and his brothers EPIC Germany ride. For the last 17 years, he has been in a committed relationship with a gal by the name of Rosanne. And a wonderful relationship it has been and continues to be.

Dan has 1 daughter and 3 grandchildren.

In his spare time, he has a variety of hobbies but he always goes full circle right back to bikes. Nothing holds his interests more than bikes, bikes, and bikes since he was 16 years old.

Upon asking what he considers is “really cool” that he would like everyone to know and Dan said “Life is cool if you make it that way, just enjoy it. Retirement [is] coming up in the next year, [and] that’s as cool as it gets!!”

Again, my friends, please help us welcome Dan as our August 2020 MOM.

From the HDF Staff, CONGRATULATIONS Dan!

A well deserved honor. The last two MOMs have been very worthy. Dan is the perfect blend of helpful, salty, smart and twisted. I remember when I first joined thinking his avatar was weird, but I really missed it when he stopped using it for a while.
