New Harley electric scooter, and other news

"I have a co-worker that lives 3 miles from the office, he has a cheap little electric bike and just brings the whole thing into the office to charge." (see post 36)
I'm getting older, and I can still peddle a regular bicycle 3 miles even if I have to go uphill for a while. Lets not throw out the benefits of getting some "EXERCISE" in our daily living...just say'n….

He's run the Marine Corps Marathon ever year for the last 10 years. We don't worry about him getting fat. He just doesn't like being sweaty and smelly at work.

If he can run a marathon, I doubt he would be sweaty in just 3 miles. I was a Marine, and we ran 3 miles in boots. There must be something else. He likes New Tech, or is a bike geek himself. I wouldn't justify the cost of an e-bike (2-3k) over a mountain bike or a racer (5-600) for a short ride like that. Maybe it's just me. E-bikes have been around for a long time. They seem a lot more expensive now that it's a fad. (Capitalism?) More popular now than ever. But the concept was always there. I see commercials on TV for them now. He gets to spend his money his way, and I do mine. This is America. That's never going to change. But you cant argue that Americans aren't getting fatter and lazier.

1. He is a Geeks Geek.
2. He hates being sweaty.
3. He's a cheap SOB. Look at the price of the bike I linked. $349. ( I think he got if for $249 at Costco, his looks like that but has a different name on it.) He wouldn't spend the money for a decent mountain or road bike.
At lunch today I showed him the picture and said he needed to upgrade to a Harley (two other motorcycle riders in the office recently moved to Harleys). He said "What's that thing going to cost? $2,000?" I said it's a Harley, at least that much. he said, "No Way, that's too expensive"
