Only thing that kills mold spores is strong peroxide and/or ultraviolet light exposure over a long period of time, nothing else will touch it.

Where you going to wear it while you tried the Microwave thing? The only reason I am asking is that we are looking for a new “Fearless Leader” north of the 49th, and it would help with the qualification process.

Is it really mold or does it just smell musty ? My wife bought a couple of new helmets from a garage sale that smelled kinda musty. Aired them out and wrapped some charcoal in a rag and placed it in them for awhile. Seemed to work with no smell what so ever.

You’re worried about maybe a couple hundred bucks from 10 years ago?

Yes...the padding hardens over time.
