Hearing Protection...what do you use...

RE: Hearing Protection...what do you use...
I wear the foam ones any time I will be going over 45. Cuts down the wind roar and is the only way I can hear the music. I have always found that a helmet (full or 3/4) tends to amplify the wind and exhaust noise so ear plugs are mandatory.
I have had custom plugs and they are easy to insert, but the foam ones seem to work a lot better. Best place I have found to buy is earplugstore.com. If you buy in bulk (200 pairs), you can get them for 10 cents a pair. They also offer assortment packs so you can try different plugs to find which is best for you.

never used anything for hearing protection in the past, but started reading this thread and had to check it out.
I got some of what cubcake1 posted a pic of out of my shooting box and went for a short ride.
maybe they take some getting used to, but I found them uncomfortable in traffic, made me nervous, couldn't hear my bike right, couldnt tell which gear I was in several times... one fella decided to share my lane to make a right turn after red, skeered the bejeezus out of me, b/c I didnt hear him til he was on me.
I did however find them fantastic on the freeway, but also noticed that ambulance sirens (what I heard on my ride) were not noticeable to me until they were very close (4 or 5 car lengths)
dunno if I'll have them around unless I'm on a pretty long ride..

Yep, EAR too. I also have a full face like a few others. Amazing what a noise difference it makes with the visor down, but goves too much of a car feeling.

I use to use the little foam plugs but at the Midwest Rally our booth was next toa guy making the fitted ear plugs. Best $40.00 I ever spent.
