Default Half helmet vs 3/4helmet?

I recently bought a half helmet to wear instead of my 3/4 because I figured it would be a bit cooler. It is cooler, nice to feel some air on the back of my neck. My question is, has anyone noticed more wind buffeting with a half as opposed to a 3.4?

Maybe I'm nuts but it seems like it to me.

BTW bike is an 07 Ultra with 9.5" windshield.

Yeah, especially if it has a visor on it or if it is loose fitting. The wind is coming up from under the windshield causing the buffeting. If your helmet is a tad too big, go to a bicycle shop and see if you can buy some of the small foam pads they use inside bicycle helmets to adjust the size. That's what I did with my 1/2 and it helped snug it up.

I think it depends on the fit of the individual helmet, not whether it's 1/2 or 3/4.

I had just the opposite experience; my 3/4 buffeted more.

my half helmet buffeted a LOT! whipped my head side to side and front and back where 30 minutes on the freeway hurt my neck! With my new full face, it almost feels like I got a windshield in front of me, my head is now steady at 65mph+ and a few hours go buy without an issue.

I will use a 3/4 if i'm going to be doing a long distance on the freeways because of the winds at speed. For me, anything over 70 and the 1/2 has too much buffeting. Otherwise it's the 1/2 for the comfort.

I use the 1/2 if I'm just cruising around town under 60 mph. Anything above 65 mph and the buffeting gets very distracting. I also have a 3/4 with a face shield, which I use if I know I'll be traveling above 60 mph for most of my ride. I have a deuce with no windshield so the 3/4 with faceshield helps alot.

I use the 1/2 andeven with a windvest there is a ton of wind noise going through the straps. Wearing ear plugs at the moment but considering sewing some fabric in to bridge the gap on the straps on the outside. Seems like the turbulence in this area is the culprit. It's my only complaint with it.

I am thinking of doing the same thing.. earplugs work really good but would like to get rid of the wind noise from around the straps.

I'm the same as the other guys. I only use my half helmet for around town. When we travel, I wear the 3/4 that has a face shield. I used to wear the half helmet on trips until I got doinked on the forehead by a rock. I didn't notice any difference in they way either handled the wind.

I have the Bell Drifter which has removable ear pads. They do help for the wind noise but the buffeting is the same.
