Thanks for the compliment flsun1, there are alot of people around here that are willing to share tips and tricks. Tip #2: Watch out for the people that think they know what they are doing.

Had to replace my 1800 mi. tire over the winter due to a nail. It was pretty easy. The only problem I had was removing the axle. Had to beat it out with a piece of 3/8" bar stock. Cleaned and greased it up before putting it back in. Saved alot of $$ doing it myself. Close to $270 to have the dealer do it if I'm not remembering wrong.

Push the mufflers down to remove axile.
After removing the axile , we pushed the mufflers back up and put nuts back on so we wouldn't lose them.

I can purchase the tools that are needed to replace the tire and can follow the directions in the manual for belt adjustments etc but what about balancing? Do we need to balance the wheel/tire combination once we replace the tire or is balancing not an issue with a motorcycles?

What kind of nut would pull a wheel in the middle of nowhere? Still disappointing to me that you didn't get to finish the ride. At least you made it to the top of Mt. Evans and the rest of us didn't.

Based on your experience, I have purchased a set of Street Glide wheels and will have them on the bike before the next trip.

By the way, did your dealer make the wheel right when you got it back? I talked to our dealer here, and he said that he was sure HD would make it good..
