I guess it was happening, I just don't remember much from the 1940's.

I get waved at all the time, and I wave back. Half of the time I can't tell the make of the bike coming at me.

Hmmm... I've been riding for almost 50 years and I had no idea. I thought people just waved for the F*ck of it!!

I ride a road king and a GSXR 1000 crotch rocket, sadely I AM old enough to remember the fist pump in the air for a passing biker. I wave at everybody no matter what they ride , hell I even wave at bicycles I don' t give a **** what they ride. That my friends IS the canadian way..
All across this great country bikers wave out of courtesy, brotherhood , to give warnings whatever..life is too short to be some stuck up ******* on a bike he or she thinks is better than the rest , because they are ALL fun , and they ALL have their issues.
Now have a wonderfull day.

There’s that too, but if you just passed a road hazard that the oncoming rider was about to ride into you might do something to signal them other than wave. In that case the wave is usually an All Clear sign by default. It might be more common where I am as there are a lot of technical roads so riders have a lot more variables to be alerted to on a regular basis than some other areas I’ve lived.

Here you go, with a one-handed wheelie to boot
