With the cost all of the things I have added to my SGS, I could have purchased a CVO, but there are things I would have needed to add even then.

So, IMHO, it just comes down to how bad you want the CVO paint scheme. You can spend the money either way.
Doesn't the cvo have a bigger motor?

Yeah, 117 vs my 114. I wonder if you can tell the diference? Not sure if that is on all CVO's.

Well, just pointing out it's more than just the paint. Not sure if you can tell the difference but, there is a old saying......"there's no replacement for displacement "

Worth is realitive or perspective. I'd like to have a cvo but don't have a place to park it out of the weather and most days I ride to work year round. I say if someone can swing it, then why not

CVO's are worth every dime. When you add it up - 117 motor, paint, chrome, etc. etc. it can't be beat. Do you need it? Probably not. Do you want it? Oh, yeah...

That depends on what's important to you. For $40k you could buy my 2012 Mustang Convertible, My 2003 FLHTCUI, My 2000 Mastercraft Prostar190, and my 2000 Crest 25 ft pontoon. They're depreciated, but well maintained, and function perfectly well. I see no reason to try to impress CaffeineBuzz.

The obvious difference would be resale value.
All I can definitively say is a CVO Harley isn't worth 40k of MY money. I'll go further by saying there aren't any TWO Harleys worth 40k of my money.

So, according to you, these people shouldn't feel proud?
As noted in my post that you quoted, “that’s just me”. If you are a CVO owner and you feel proud when someone compliments your bike, that’s cool with me. When people compliment my corvette I do say thanks, but I don’t feel pride, I feel agreement. Chevy did a great job on this latest body style and I’m happy to share all the features of my car, I just don’t feel pride. That said, my corvette isn’t billed as a “Custom Vehicle”. It’s just a cool stock mass produced car. Like my RGS was before I made it a “Custom Vehicle”.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t begrudge anyone that buys a CVO (especially any of the 2019 Road Glide CVOs). I’ve considered it, but chose not to because I can make a one of a kind true custom for about the same price and it makes me feel proud that I made it... it’s mine... no other is like it.
