For the purchase price of a CVO you could build or have a truly custom motorcycle built that wouldn't be a stock factory bike with a bunch of accessories and little doo-dads screwed and glued on like all the other CVO owners.

You must live in America? Here in Canada, $40k will get you the basic stripped down model of a street glide, haha. A CVO here, new, or even last years model will run you about $60k, not including accessories, heated grips, not even a stage 1.

People are paying $80K for a new Ford Expedition. Wait to see the sticker bump hit when they bring out the new Bronco.

Although I have seen 2 nice used CVO Vrods (05 red, 06 yellow)here lately. For the right price might be a fun addition to the family. I don't see them often.

Is this feeling you have just relegated to CVO's, or does it equally apply to automobiles and other non-CVO motorcycles? Many times people will give a thumbs up or say "hey, that's a nice car" to owners driving various sports cars (ie Corvette, Viper, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Muscle Cars, etc) and these people for the most part didn't do anything to customize their vehicle besides the wax shine. So, according to you, these people shouldn't feel proud?

If that is the case there is no way in hell I'd own a HD if I lived in Canada.

In today's crappy used bike market...a 40k bike will lose half it's value when you drive it off the lot...with exception of insanely rich people...luxury toys just don't sell like they did a decade ago...

With the cost all of the things I have added to my SGS, I could have purchased a CVO, but there are things I would have needed to add even then.

So, IMHO, it just comes down to how bad you want the CVO paint scheme. You can spend the money either way.
